Why choosing wrong friends may subject you to unrealistic life (Life Orientation notes) Human beings are inherently social creatures, wired to seek connection and belonging. From childhood through adulthood, friendships serve as a cornerstone of our emotional well-being and social development. However, the impact of friendships extends far beyond mere companionship; our friends can profoundly influence our perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors.

Why choosing wrong friends may subject you to unrealistic life

Why choosing the wrong friends may subject you to unrealistic life? Look at your circle of friends. Look closer and narrow it down to 5 closest friends. Well, you have just found who you really are. Do you know that every person is an average of his/her five friends? There is a great saying within the business communities: “show me your friends and I’ll tell you what your net worth is.” Or, “Show me your friend, and I’ll tell you your future.” This literally means that your closest friends are the biggest influence on what you do, what you think about, what you eat, what you wish for, what you value…The list can go on and on.

Choosing the wrong friends may subject you to unrealistic life that you don’t truly desire. Unrealistic life is a life that has many bad outcomes.

Wrong friends are bad friends that lead you to your detrimental state of mind. Bad friends drain all your energies and leave you dry, hopeless, and blurred vision about your life.

Wrong friends will lead you to dangerous behaviors, such as:

  • Taking of drugs/alcohol – underage drinking is against the law.
  • Indulging in irresponsible sexual behaviour – against all religious principles and values and beliefs of society.
  • Sex for money – values are too materialistic and based solely on greed. Also against all religious principles and values and beliefs of society.
  • Unprotected sex- causes harm to themselves and others because one can contract HIV/AIDS and other diseases.
  • Sexual relations with a minor – against the law.
